Government Infrastructure
Client: Frankston City Council
Location: Ballam Park, Karingal, VIC
Scope: Underground electrical works and upgrade of sports lighting infrastructure
Status: Funding secured for lighting; broader oval redevelopment underway
Frankston City Council is delivering a major redevelopment of Ballam Park East Oval, focused on providing a safer, more reliable and fit-for-purpose sporting facility for football, cricket, netball and community events. The redevelopment includes new sub-soil drainage, modern irrigation, drought-tolerant turf, realignment of the cricket pitch and, crucially, an upgrade of the sports lighting.
As part of these works, the Australian Government has committed $225,000 (half the lighting upgrade value) and Council is pursuing the remainder through the Victorian Government’s Country Football & Netball Program, with results expected in October 2025.
As the selected contractor for the underground electrical component, we will perform directional drilling to install new electrical conduits servicing the upgraded lighting towers.
Working in a live sports-field environment, our trenchless method minimises surface disturbance and ensures minimal impact on turf, spectator access and ongoing recreational use. We will coordinate with Council and civil works teams to align the electrical works with the broader oval redevelopment program.
When complete, the upgraded lighting and infrastructure will significantly enhance night-time usability of Ballam Park East Oval, supporting local clubs, finals events and broader community recreation. The upgrade contributes to reduced maintenance costs (via improved drainage and turf), enhanced sustainability (Council plans to recycle the old surface rather than send to landfill) and increased participation in sport.
By deploying directional drilling for the electrical works, we will help maintain field integrity, protect existing services and ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget.
